How have women’s rights in Iran developed over time? What legal, political and social changes have shaped the lives of women, and what challenges remain today?
This lecture provides an introduction to the history of women’s rights in Iran from antiquity to the present. It examines major historical turning points, changing legal frameworks and the role of women in political and social movements. Particular attention will be given to current developments and the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, which has brought international attention to questions of equality, participation and human rights in Iran.
The lecture is held in English and requires no prior knowledge.
