— What makes up East Germany, what themes are in intense circulation here and how do the realities of East German life find their way on to the big screen and into the media? This talk in collaboration with the weekly newspaper “der Freitag” asks about visibility, dominant narratives and the images created of the East – and about its representation in the film landscape of the country as a whole. These ideas will be discussed by Fokus Ost filmmakers Ina Borrmann (“Guten Abend, du Schöne”), Sonja Hilberger (“Die Klasse von 1990”), Dieter Schumann (“Garten der Hoffnung”) and curator Grit Lemke.
